Coral Scarab

An amphibious alien insect able to maneuver under water using it’s fin-like extensions and antennas to guide itself. Jointed legs are tucked in, allowing for a more hydrodynamic shape. Two gas sacs are located on each side of the scarab which are believed to help propel it at high speed when escaping from predators.

On land, the Coral Scarab has very few flee or fight mechanisms. It’s movement is slow, encumbered by it’s hulking carapace. It cannot fly nor can it burrow. Mating is believed to occur on land. Most scarabs caught in the ocean are male, leading to the assumption that females tend to the young on land until they reach a mature age.
